Sara is 10 years old and in fifth grade. She received a diagnosis of severe dyslexia and mild dysgraphia, dyscalculia and dysorthography at the end of the second year of primary school.
Sara is a very intelligent girl and her IQ is above average, but she is not autonomous with the tasks and needs constant guidance. She has little confidence in her abilities and after the discovery of the diagnosis she clammed up, showing communication problems. She doesn’t like to talk about his disorder and at school she refuses to use the compensatory tools even if she knows that they can help her.
She is the only child and when she doesn’t have homework she plays with her dog Macchia, which is also her best friend. When the weather is nice they play outdoors, and when they are at home watching cartoons or Sara invents stories.
She loves music, and even if she doesn’t remember the multiplication tables, she knows the words to all the songs of her favorite singers.
She hates school and homework because she has to study after dinner, and because even if she studied much she never fails to get the desired results.
She has a good relationship with technology and she waits impatiently that her parents gift her first smartphone.
Gabriel is 8 years old and in the third grade. A few months ago he discovered that the letters of his book hop because it has a severe dyslexia and a mild dysgraphia.
He is a very lively and cheerful child and and he is autonomous in the tasks even if times are very long. He remember the concepts that are associated with images and prefer to learn through direct action in fact he likes to draw and build things with his own hands. He enjoys going to school every day and has a great desire to learn.
He has an older brother, Giulio, who when he can help him with his homework and reads to Gabriele because in this way he learned so quickly. During his free time he likes to play with his Nintendo DS and has a large collection of video games. He’s very good and when he plays with Giulio is always to win. He loves basketball even if he don’t know dribble well because of his motor disorders and his problems of coordination.He hates brushing teeth before going to bed and eat vegetables.
He has a good relationship with technology, in fact when his father let him play with his smartphone or tablet with him.
Clara is 35 years old, she has a degree in Education and teaches a class of third grade.
She is a prevalent teacher then spends all her hours on a single class to which teaches Italian, Maths, History, Geography, Science, Art and Religion.
She is married for seven years and she has a 5 year old child to whom she dedicates all her time when she isn’t in school.
She loves her job and she likes to teach children every day something new. She is very strict with her students, but she knows it is not with shouting and with the rigor that are obtained good results.
She hates when she fails to help students in need, but also when she has to stay long time in school taking the time to spend with her son.
She uses the computer and internet to do professional research and she uses social networks for private purposes.
Maria is 52 years old, she has a degree in Foreign Languages and Literature and teaches English in different classes of his institute. She lives alone because her two sons are at the University and her husband died a few years.
Her whole life is based on the teaching and even though she loves her job she has lost confidence in the school today and in its organization.
She misses the old school where the teachers were very strict and in fact she thinks that students need to be reproach when they do not behave properly.
She is always available to her students and when she can help them after the school.
She loves to cook and occasionally rewards her students bringing them some cake made with her own hands. In her spare time she likes to cook as well as meet her friends and pursue his garden.
She hasn’t a great relationship with technology, but has learned to use the computer to professional issues.
