During today’s meeting all students showed their first design project ideas.

The first idea of the shape of my device comes a serie of reflections:

  • The children love to play on the floor;
  • The conventional position to sit a table to do homework may cause in the children a negative thought of homework;
  • I wanted to design an environment, a special place that belongs only to the child.

So I decided to concentrate on a sort of carpet.

This interactive carpet allows  child to do his homework through many activities.
For instance, he can listen a lesson by the speakers and see pictures that help to understand it and then the child can test its preparation through diffferent games.

The carpet may use OLED technology  that allows use of flexible display. This will make it possible to fold the carpet and roll it after using it.

After the presentation of the design Professor asked questions related to the chosen form. He told me that the theme of the project is interesting and complex, but he suggested that I focus primarily on the software of the device.

So my goal now is to understand what are the activities, and above all what are the media and the best methods to help the understanding of the child.

The next steps will be:

  • interview of dyslexic children and teachers;
  • understand how works the perception of these children;
  • do many tests.
